Maize/Corn

Corn (Zea Mays) is a grain with high starch component that is used all over the world for ethanol, livestock feed and the food processing industries. Corn is widely consumed by humans worldwide in several recipes. Maize is the second most important grain in the world after wheat. Maize is our flagship commodity. We aggregate and distribute to our clients in the brewery, poultry feed and food processing industry. Our production of maize will begin in 2023.

Sorghum

Sorghum (sorghum bicolor) also known as great millet, Indian millet, milo, durra. There are four types of sorghum namely grain, forage, Biomass, and sweet sorghum. Grain sorghum has economic prospects in Ghana and west Africa. It is industrially used for ethanol and livestock feed production in the United States. In Ghana it is commercially used by the brewery industry for beers and other products. Locals in the north use it for food. Sorghum is the fifth most important grain in the world. We are gradually growing our supply chains and planning to start production on contract basis.

Soybean

Soybean (Glycine max) is a species of legume native to East Asia, widely grown for its edible bean, which has numerous industries uses i.e., animal feed (meal), food formulas, vegetable oil for cooking, soy source etc. It is high in protein, vitamins, and minerals. Soybean is the second highest and profitable commodity in our business.

Sesame

Sesame (Sesamum indicum) are seeds grown since antiquity for its oil. It is used as food and flavoring. Sesame has high export value and a priced commodity for M&L. Our production plan is targeted at 1000 ha of sesame production twice a year in the savanna zone.

Rice

Rice is a widely cultivated farm product that is a staple food for more than half of the world’s population. It is a cereal grain that is grown in paddies, which are flooded fields that are specifically designed for rice cultivation. Rice is a highly versatile crop that can be consumed in various ways, such as boiled, steamed, fried, or roasted. It is also a common ingredient in many food products, such as bread, noodles, and desserts. Rice farming plays a significant role in the global economy, as it provides employment opportunities for millions of people and generates significant revenues for farmers and agribusinesses.

Cashew

Cashew (Anacardium occidentale) originated in Brazil and now extensively grown in all tropical areas. The nuts are of high economic value for the export market in Ghana. Its eaten roasted or through several Asian recipes. M&L is currently aggregating and exporting. We aim to commence production of this important nut soon.

Palm Fruits (FFB)

The global palm oil market size reached $53B in 2022 and is expected to reach $68B by 2027 exhibiting a CAGR of 4.2%. Originating from West Africa, palm oil is an edible vegetable oil produced from the mesocarp of the fruit of oil palms. It is the world’s highest yielding oil crop with output 5-10 times higher per hectare than other leading vegetable oil crops. Its application is wide i.e., Biofuel, animal feed, personal care, oleo chemicals, food and beverage and house cooking. MLI has earmarked 4000 ha of land to produce palm oil in the coming year. Consumption of palm oil in Ghana is consumption as refined vegetable oil for cooking and crude oil for Zomi.
